Every city has stories hiding in plain sight — in the brickwork of a century-old facade, the name of a street that used to mean something different, the square where history actually happened. Most of us walk past them every day without ever hearing them.

We started Journaes because we believe a great day out shouldn't depend on your budget. Too often, getting to know a city means paying for a guide, joining a fixed-schedule group tour, or skipping the stories altogether. We wanted something different: a way to explore on your own time, at your own pace, with no ticket required.

We made it free because we think everyone deserves access to the places they live in or visit - students, families, solo travellers, curious locals rediscovering their own backyard. If you find value in a tour, you can choose to leave a donation to support the storytellers and city guides behind it, but it's never required. Prefer not to explore solo? Our Group feature lets you join a self-guided tour alongside others heading the same way.
